Bedroom Reading

A fiddly painting with irrelevant little details - a form of self torture when I'm trying to paint them all in!

The base coat was a flat wash of burnt umber to establishing an overall harmony before applying layers of colour in watercolour and gouache.
It's a mish-mash of eras - the train, clockwork animals, radio etc date it from early to mid 20th century yet two of the posters on the wall depict a 90's and a 00's band!
